Rye
On 11 August 2026, two of our Tsuriou customers, Katie and Wilson, went out for a flick despite the rainy weather that had rolled through most of the week. Reports coming out of the Mount Martha area suggested a lot of murky runoff from the rain, with concerns it could affect water quality across Port Phillip Bay.
Despite the report, Wilson headed to Rye bright and early for a chilly morning session. The water turned out to be decent, so he opted for the Tsuriou Orca jig and the Red Bellied Snake jig, both featuring a red foil that creates a strong silhouette in the current water conditions. Wilson managed to bring in 8 squid before calling it a day, beaten more by the cold than the fishing.
Rye / Portsea
Our other customer Katie, meanwhile, tried her luck at Portsea before the pier closes for renovations. The closure was originally scheduled for last month but appears to have been pushed back to this month instead. Katie gave it a good hour at Portsea but only managed one squid, taken on a Forest Snake jig. After spotting Wilson's result posted in our Tsuriou WeChat group, she packed up and headed over to Rye to join in on the action.

At Rye, Katie put together a solid session, landing 6 squid in two hours using the Tsuriou Hakuryu White Dragon jig, Tong Sha jig and Pink Sakura Koi jig.

Western Australia Report — 11 August 2026
Busselton Jetty
Our pro fisho customer Rick from Western Australia headed out to Busselton Jetty for a short sunrise session and managed to bag 11 squid. The squid were a bit finicky, so he worked them over with the Tsuriou Albino Slow Sinking jig and the Yellow Corn Snake jig to tempt a bite.
